Sadly, just when this musical story seem to have relevance it has closed. In the light of the attacks in the United States the message of The Beautiful Games seem most poignant. While the story does not deeply examine the causes of terrorism it show how it can effect both a country and it's people.
While The Beautiful Game is relatively small in scope especially when compared to other shows in Andrew's past. It is however, large in heart and not lacking the passion which Andrew's famous for. Unlike the soaring grandly romantic scores that Andrew has penned in the past several of the songs in this musical have much more harder edge and more drive. You can tell for the moving overture that this will be unlike anything Andrew written before.
